Do my scars need to be fully healed?
Yes. Tattooing over scar tissue requires time and an individual assessment. A participating artist can talk with you about whether the area is ready, and may recommend that you also check with a qualified medical professional.
Will I need to share my whole story?
No. You decide what to share. We only ask for the information needed to support a safe match and respectful tattoo experience.
Is the tattoo free?
Financial assistance is based on available funding and individual need. We aim to reduce or remove cost wherever possible and will be transparent before you commit.
Can I participate as an artist?
We welcome experienced, licensed tattoo artists who understand scar tissue and are committed to consent-led, trauma-informed practices.
Is this a mental health service?
No. Love Covers Scars is a tattoo-support nonprofit, not therapy or crisis care. We can encourage connection to appropriate support, but we do not replace medical or mental health professionals.
